Electrical Engineering draftsperson Description

Electrical Engineering Draftpeople makes various electrical components and equipment and provides schematics, blueprints, and instructions to allow others to do the same. They design wire systems and circuit layouts for use by engineers in constructing electrical equipment and systems for use in communications, power plants, and electrical distribution. They gather data, do tests and sophisticated computations, graph the results, and create charts. They work with engineers to determine the best approach to create and plan a design, and they may also do organizational chores. Electrical engineering draftspeople often work in offices, although they may also work in engineering workshops or labs. They frequently spend a lot of time on computers doing complicated design work.

Tools and technologies

Electrical engineering draftspeople rely heavily on computers, notably CAD (computer-aided design) tools, and electrical system modelling and testing systems. They must also be conversant with electrical circuits and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, and transmission lines. They may also be required to use other types of office equipment.

Unit Group: 3123 Electrical Engineering Draftspersons and Technicians

Electrical Engineering Draftspersons and Technicians help with electrical engineering research, design, production, assembly, building, operation, and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and distribution systems.
